Let's Get Back to Work!
The current economy has been down right brutal and costs good qualifed people their jobs through no fault of their own--I know what that's like--it's not fun at all.
If you are looking right now allow me to share with you some tips from an article written by US News and World Report.
They spoke with people who actually do the hiring at major companies to find out what they look for--what they want and what will kill your chances.
Don't bad mouth your previous Boss- No matter how bad he or she is--forget that--it's a deal breaker for you.
They want you to ask them questions too-They want to know that you are interested in the details of that job--not just any job but that job.
If you are lucky enough to get an interview--Send a THANK YOU RIGHT AWAY!
That alone will put you above others who don't.
Be able to answer this question and it's a hard one- What do you think are your biggest weaknesses? The hiring folks say that they hate it when someone says their biggest weakness is that they work too hard--they view that as phoney--So be honest even though it's a tough question.
They want to see some enthusiasm! Many people looking for work are afraid they will look desperate and don't express any enthusiasm--SHow em you want that job!
Be sure not to lie on your resume and know that if they are interested in you they will check your references and BEYOND---Make sure you don't have anything that would kill your chances on a Facebook page or Myspace--many check that too.
And plan to show up for the interview no more than 5-10 minutes early--be polite to the office staff and everyone you meet.
